Headlights
Words by Myles O Reilly
Through the years
it's been kicking in my skull
Through the door
and into my private airspace
Up the staircase
and to where I lie in bed
It haunts me like
a road that's never ending
You didn't see her
in the headlights
You didn't notice
in the headlights
I came to loose her
in your headlights
It never goes away
It never goes away
Kicking in my skull
From the road and
into my precious headspace
I still see her face
in place of mine instead
She haunts me like a pain
that's never ending
you didn't see her
in the headlights
You didn't notice
in the headlights
I came to loose her
in your headlights
It never goes away
It never goes away
I'm never gonna lay you down
I'm never gonna lay you down
You down
for as long
as you've been away
A college friend of one of my sisters was killed by a hit and run driver while cycling home from a pub one night in Donegal. Donegal has the highest numer of 'hit and run' road deaths in Ireland due to the sheer number of Joyriders from northern Ireland thinking they are invincible across the border.
